RISK – Immediate effects can be nausea, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, chills and fever. Long term the risk can be more serious from continually swimming in the same area.
If the water pH is higher than 8, anyone who swims in the pool is at risk of skin rashes, while a pH of lower than 7 can sting swimmers’ eyes. Need to be within 7-9 PH.
Nitrates in your water won’t cause you any problems directly if you happen to swim it, but in time it can indirectly affect the quality of water. You see, because they are a plant nutrient, they encourage the growth of algae in your pool.
